Eddie Ontai, a dedicated servant leader with over 30 years of expertise in organizational leadership, strategic planning, and project management. As the President of DataHouse Consulting, Hawaii’s largest IT consulting firm, Edward has played a pivotal role in driving substantial growth, increasing shareholder value by 146%, and expanding the company’s global footprint. His experience spans multiple industries, including healthcare and non-profit sectors, where he has led transformative projects, including affordable housing developments and strategic financial turnarounds. Edward is committed to empowering teams, fostering a thriving company culture, and ensuring long-term success.
In addition to his role at DataHouse Consulting, Edward has held key leadership positions across various sectors, including serving as Vice President of Administration at Catholic Charities Hawai’i and Executive Director of Catholic Charities Housing Development Corporation. During his tenure, he oversaw complex projects such as the $28 million redevelopment of the Catholic Charities Hawaii Ching Campus and the development of senior affordable housing initiatives. What are your expectations for a mentor-mentee relationship?
Be open minded and willing to lean into their discomfort zones. Most importantly, show up..
How do you approach problem-solving and conflict resolution?
Fall in love with the problem, not the solution. Ask the 5 why’s to get to the root of the problem. Make the problem the issue, not the person.
How do you envision success for your mentee, and how will you measure it during the program?
Help the mentee establish what their baseline is from the beginning, and visualize what success looks like. Then measure from there.
