Reduce Costs While Protecting Our Precious Water Resources: Look for Leaks
Businesses can waste more than 10,000 gallons of water every year because of running toilets, dripping faucets, and other property leaks.  That’s a lot of water and revenue literally going down the drain.  This is why the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii is sponsoring the Board of Water Supply’s (BWS) annual Detect-A-Leak Week, observed this year from March 11 to 17.
Leaks are one of the most common sources of water waste on Oahu.  Most water users do not realize they have a leak until they receive a high water bill.  By that time, hundreds, if not thousands of gallons of potable water have been wasted.  Proactive leak detection can reduce business expenses by resulting in savings on water and sewer bills.
The Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii urges all of its members to participate in the observance of Detect-A-Leak Week by making leak detection and water conservation a routine business practice to save money and to protect Oahu’s limited water supply.
Detect-A-Leak Week activities include:
Free dye tablets to help check for toilet leaks are available at all City Mill hardware stores, satellite City Halls, and the BWS lobby at 630 South Beretania Street.
Want to conduct your own leak inspection?  Log onto their website at www.boardofwatersupply.com for free information on conservation and leak detection or call the BWS at 748-5041.
By finding and fixing property leaks, businesses can reduce overhead costs while helping to preserve Oahu’s finite groundwater supplies for future generations.
